Your Constellations

inspired by the paintings of Dozier Bell

your constellations
may come from a dark place
deep under soil

beyond the sky
there is a light
that toils to emerge unbroken

it was in winter that I
found you lying naked
in your room

her stars were in your
blood, you wore her
tiara to bed

we traced the
infinite cracks
between sky and wall

now it’s deep
between mountains
we sleep in the hold

our sky is filled with
ashes, bits of stars
and broken bones
